RAC - Random Acts of Creativity

NY is to the serial shopper what Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory is to a chocoholic. An Eldorado. And yet, from the luxury boutique on 5th Avenue to the thrift store in Williamsburg, you might feel you have exhausted all the city’s resources. If, like us, you’re tired of mainstream brands and aspire to shake things up in your wardrobe for this summer season, we found the solution.

It all comes down to 3 letters: R.A.C.
And it opens today!

RAC is not your ordinary boutique. It stands for “Random Acts of Creativity”. If the slogan is a tad ambitious, the idea itself is very simple: it is a trendy concept store, just like Colette in Paris – only younger and more international. Women’s and men’s apparel, jewelry, pieces of art and furniture… Everything is for sale in this store showcased like a gallery and promoting only young designers and artists from around the world.

A feminine and international duo is behind the project: Sabrina Burda, German and Noelle Pallais, Peruvian. These two New Yorkers by adoption have a common passion for fashion and travel. They both explore the 7 continents to find new artists and in-vogue creators. RAC is the result of their peregrinations and discoveries. Their meticulously curated selection will be presented until the end of June in their Nolita pop-up store.

It is Sabrina and Noelle’s second ephemeral retail adventure. This time, the two talent scouts chose a seasonal theme called “summer escape”. You’ll find all the summer essentials: a young Italian swimwear brand for gentlemen (because, let’s face it: Vilebrequin is has-been), a new brand of straw and felt hats handmade with love, seaside photomontage from a Greek photographer. We promise you one thing: you will feel you have traveled all over the world the second you enter RAC. First stop: Latin America with handmade beaded mochila bags from artisans in Colombia, then over to Africa with collected beaded necklaces from tribes in South Africa which Sabrina brought back from her last trip across the Atlantic, ending up in the Emirates with a brand from Dubai handcrafting superb embroidered pieces with decorative tribal textiles made in Kazakhstan.

RAC thrives on the cosmopolitan, the unexpected, the funky or just plain marvelous. It is the mecca for all young creative minds from around the world. In short, it is exactly the summer store you didn’t even know you needed.
